Baby Bird Update

I thought I would give you an update on the Baby Birds.
It looks like there is only one left.
He is getting bigger and his feathers are coming in.
I thought it might be a Robin but the markings on it head don't
really look like a Robin
What do you think it is?

Baby Birds

Matt is mowing the grass for the first time this year. He just called me out to see the Baby Birds he found. You will never guess where Momma Bird decided to place her nest......

Right there in the Wheelbarrow.
Can't see them? Look in the Pot...
Look a little closer.......

There they are! I counted 2 beaks but I am sure there are more. I didn't want to mess around the Nest to long. Matt said he saw Momma fly off when he came near that area with the mower. Hopefully he didn't scare her off never to return.
I can't believe Momma nested there. The Dogs are in that area all the time.
Then I saw another Nest in the corner of the yard

This one is empty................... so far.
It was nice to out in the Yard and seeing signs of Spring until......................Matt found a Snake!!
Ok.........that's enough for me.
Inside we go........ I hate Snakes!

My Flower Beds

I love to Garden. Or I should say....... I used to love to Garden. But with my physical disabilities it is impossible for me to do it without inflicting much pain upon myself.

When we first moved in to our Home. I was able to get the Hubs to help me plant some bulb plants and lay some mulch. I made sure to plant plants that were perennial and were low maintenance. Because if Hubs had his way he would lay concrete and paint it green instead of having grass and pretty flowers. Over the years I have got some starts of plants from my Mom and his Mom as they were thinning out their Gardens. So I am proud of my pretty, low maintenance Gardens until.........

Late last year on the east side of the house, the flower bed was taken over by thistles. I was not able to get them out before fall and winter hit. So this year I noticed that they were back with a vengeance. I was telling my Mom about it. We agreed it they would keep coming back unless I was able to take them out root and all. My dilemma was I can't do it and Hubs won't do it. But it needed to get done?!?!?!

Imagine my surprise when my Mom called and told me that she would be coming over to my house to help me with my flower beds!!! She said she was coming over with her dandelion puller and she would wage war on my thistle bed! So that is what she did and she did a great job!!

Thanks Mom. You are the best!

* pictures to follow......as soon as the Hubs gets the mowing done. Maybe I could talk him into laying some mulch again this year?!?!?!

The Gray Sweatshirt

In an effort to be more "Green" and save on our heating bill, we turned down the old thermostat to 68 degrees this past winter. It was a little chilly at first but I got a gray zippered sweatshirt with thermal lining to keep me warm. It has kept me toasty all winter long.

Conversation with the Hubs:

Hubs: I am so glad it is Spring.

Me: I know..... I can't wait to see some flowers. Open the windows. Go for walks outside. What are looking forward to?

Hubs: Not seeing you in that gray sweatshirt!

Spring....Finally!

Finally Spring has Sprung!

I have plants popping thru the dirt, the birds are singing and the grass is getting greener.

I spent some time with my Family today. That is always a good time. I got to see my Sister who is fresh off a Kidney Stone Blasting Procedure. She was a little sore and tired but feeling better.

Get well soon, Sis!

Opening Day 2008

Major League Baseball Opening Day 2008

Baseball is back. And we are excited! Our team is the Detroit Tigers. Matt has been a fan since childhood. Because he was so interested, I became interested. This also happened to be in 2006 when the Detroit Tigers went to the World Series.

That was the year we also started our tradition of going to Detroit to watch a Tigers Game in September to celebrate our Anniversary. We have made some great memories and have fallen in love with Downtown Detroit.

This year we are going to 2 Games in Detroit! One in May and then our September Trip. We are both really excited.

We were watching some pre season shows yesterday. All predictions and speculation points to the Tigers being a Team to beat this year. Could another trip to the World Series be in our Tigers future?!?!?!?! I sure hope so!!!!

One of my favorite Players is Curtis Granderson. Who's your Tiger??

Who is your favorite Team and / or Player??

The Tigers play the Royals at 1 pm est today.

Go Tigers!!
